Aubrey Allen Sustainability Journey Continues with Ineco

At Aubrey Allen, sustainability is an ongoing commitment to doing the right thing for our business, our customers, the planet, and the wider food industry. Our latest investment marks another significant milestone, with the installation of a new rooftop solar PV system at our Coventry production facility in partnership with Ineco.

As a business operating temperature-controlled production and storage facilities around the clock, energy plays a vital role in everything we do. Finding smarter, more sustainable ways to power our operations has become an important part of our long-term environmental strategy, helping us reduce carbon emissions while improving energy efficiency.

The new installation brings our total to 994 solar panels, designed to generate renewable electricity directly on site. By producing more of our own energy, we’re reducing our reliance on the grid while lowering the environmental impact of our day-to-day operations. The system is expected to deliver substantial long-term energy savings alongside a significant reduction in carbon emissions.

This investment builds on the work we’ve already undertaken to improve sustainability across the business. From reducing cardboard usage by more than 60% and introducing recyclable and compostable packaging, to expanding our electric vehicle fleet and finding innovative recycling solutions for materials such as butchery wellington boots, we’re continually looking for practical ways to lessen our environmental footprint. Our annual carbon audits through Planet Mark also ensure we’re measuring our progress and identifying opportunities for further improvement.

Working with Ineco has been instrumental in delivering a solution tailored to the unique demands of a modern food manufacturing facility. Alongside the solar installation itself, improvements to the building have enhanced efficiency even further, helping to reduce heat gain and optimise energy performance.

Russell Allen, Managing Director, said:

“Our commitment to sustainability is about more than reducing our own environmental impact. We believe it is our responsibility, as a business and as part of the wider food industry, to lead by example and continually raise the standard. By investing in meaningful, long-term improvements, we aim not only to reduce our carbon footprint but to inspire positive change across our sector. Sustainability is embedded in the way we think, operate and plan for the future, ensuring we create lasting value for our customers, our communities and the environment.”

Sustainability is a journey of continuous improvement rather than a destination. As we continue investing in our facilities, technology and operations, our focus remains the same: producing exceptional food while building a business that our customers, colleagues and future generations can be proud of.
