Cheese of the Week: Appleby Double Gloucester

We love Appleby Double Gloucester because of its rich, nutty & buttery flavour! This unpasteurised cows milk cheese has a hearty texture – firm but also creamy. It has a pleasantly crumbly bite & sits well on your cheeseboard with apples & pears. It is also delicious with tomato or onion chutneys.

It has a bold golden colour & is striking in appearance. Before serving on your cheeseboard, bring it to room temperature. This will enhance it’s flavour & aroma. It pairs deliciously with some fresh crusty bread, fruit & chutneys.

Appleby Double Gloucester is a traditional clothbound cheese, produced by Sarah & Paul Appleby, third generation cheesemakers on their family farm in Shropshire, near the Cheshire border. Each cheese takes a day whole day to make & matures over 16 weeks while wrapped in cloth – this method helps to develop the rind & flavour.

Please pop into the shop & give it a try! You won’t be disappointed!
